As we enter the month of June with confirmations, weddings, graduations, and vacations posted on the calendar, many also embrace a change of pace for the summer weeks ahead. Even here at St. Andrew's, the calendar looks a little different as many of our leaders seek rest and renewal for the challenges of the months ahead. However, our calling to lift up Jesus to the community in Worship, Education, and Service remains throughout the year.
Thanks be to God for everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes preparing music, communion, food, and fellowship for this past Sunday's confirmation service. What a celebration! God's richest blessings to our newly confirmed members: Ryan Braun, Miles Burger, Nick Griswold, James Kasopsky, Patrick Lewis, Jonathan Mueller, Abby Rissinger, and Jacob Weinberg. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue to grow in faith as Christ's servants in the world.
We hope that you can join us this upcoming Sunday, June 10, as we welcome Pastor K back to the pulpit here at St. A's. It is always a blessing to have him share the Word with us. Also, keep in mind that starting next Sunday, June 17 (Father's Day), we begin our summer worship schedule gathering each Sunday at 9:30 AM.
Vacation Bible School is coming to St. A's June 18-21 from 9AM - Noon for children ages 3-6. Registration forms are available in the church narthex or by contacting the church office.
Hospitality is needed for Lemonade on the Lawn this summer following each 9:30 Worship. Pick a Sunday and sign up to serve lemonade / iced tea and cookies (please plan to bring napkins and cups as well) for about 50-60 people. This is a great way to encourage staying connected as a community during the summer months. Sign up on the sheet in the narthex or call the church office for available dates.
We also need volunteers to help host the Lutheran Charities 2012 Bike Ride which will once again be using St. A's as their home base on Saturday June 23. We need people throughout the day (registration, serving lunch, and cleanup) but especially have several openings in the early afternoon hours. Again you may sign up in the narthex or call the church office for available times.
Finally, keep your eyes open in the weeks ahead for more information about our "Helping Hands" community outreach program.
God's richest blessings in the summer ahead. See you in church!
