First Facebook Live - Wednesday @ 7:30 PM

Each Wednesday evening in Lent, Pastor Mueller will be hosting Facebook Live sessions on St. Andrew's Facebook page.  Included in this time together will be prayer (with an opportunity for you to make prayer requests in the comments section), scripture reading and reflection (with an opportunity for questions in the comments), and updates on our life together as a faith community.  Our theme this year "Wednesday Wandering and Wondering" does not put on display the superheroes of the Bible and their mighty acts of power and faith (stories that tend to dominate our Sunday School lessons and with good reason) but rather biblical characters who find themselves wandering through times of waiting and watching, of transition and uncertainty, and trying to sense the presence of God in the midst of the journey (not unlike what many of us are doing right now).  This Week -    Abraham & Sarah:   Never Too Old                              Genesis 12:1-9, 15:1

We will also be hearing from Mr. Collin Grooms, Executive Director of Bear Creek Camp, our Lutheran Camp for Eastern PA located near Wilkes Barre, who will share some of his experiences of that grace.  Please keep Bear Creek in your prayers as they navigate the upcoming summer providing growth for our children and youth in a safe supportive environment.

Midweek Lenten Series 2021 (Wednesdays at 7:30 PM)

Lenten Midweek Themes 2021 – Wednesday Wandering and Wondering We will not be able to gather indoors this year for Lenten Dinners and Worship in our sanctuary (sad face). However, at the time when we would normally be gathering for worship, Pastor Mueller will be hosting Facebook Live sessions on St. Andrew's Facebook page. Included in this time together will be prayer (with an opportunity for you to make prayer requests in the comments section), scripture reading and reflection (with an opportunity for questions in the comments), and updates on our life together as a faith community. Ash Wednesday Worship Resources

Today we begin the season of Lent with the observance of Ash Wednesday.   Again  "Ashes to Go" will  be offered outside in lower parking lot (near playground) today at 9:30 – 10:00 AM, 12:30 – 1:00 PM, and 6:30 – 7:00 PM.  (Walk up or drive up).  We will all be wearing masks and will be available for prayer requests and for ashes to be imposed on the forehead this year using cotton swabs (one swab per person).  This act of sorrow and repentance and an acknowledgement of our own mortality is a way of humbly preparing ourselves for this Lenten journey. (Lenten devotions will also be available for folks who stop by this day.  Also, if you have not already done so, you are welcome  to bring non perishable food items for Norristown Interfaith Food Pantry as well as cash donations for Norristown Soup Kitchen on this day). We are currently giving our tech volunteers some well deserved  time off.  We will be back recording worship beginning this weekend.  Below is a link that include

Ash Wednesday Is This Week

So what are you giving up for Lent this year?  (Haven't we given up plenty already?)  2021 is a year when we don't have to look very far for reminders about our frailty or mortality to be sure.  Nevertheless, this holy season is a good time to reflect on our need for God's grace and our need for one another as well as our trust in God's providence even in confusing and uncertain times.  Our Lenten journey begins this Wednesday.  Please  read the important reminders below about our very different Ash Wednesday observances this year.  Also, keep your eyes open for future emails regarding both print and electronic resources and gatherings to guide us through this Holy Season.  Digital Resources (scripture, message, and prayer) will be posted in congregational e-mail, Facebook page, and church website by noontime on Wednesday.   Also, "Ashes to Go" will  be offered outside in lower parking lot (near playground) 9:30 – 10:00 AM, 12:30 – 1:00 PM, and 6:30 – 7:00 PM.

Worship Will Be Different This Week

Worship Will Be Different This Week -  In what ways?  (So glad you asked!) - We will be together with worship leaders from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in King of Prussia (where we have been recording our worship content in recent weeks) - We will be live streaming @ 9:30 AM on Sunday - so this week (only) you will not be able to open a link for worship on Saturday night or early Sunday morning.  We will send you a link via email  which you can open @ 9:30 on Sunday  to join us live or later in the day as it will be recorded for your convenience. Also, there may be a small delay in the posting of w orship  on our website and  Facebook page. While this may be inconvenient for some (especially our Saturday night worshipers), it will give us an opportunity to celebrate the partnership we share with Good Shepherd, thank them for opening their hearts and building to us, and experience different voices and perspectives in worship (Pastor Mueller will still be preaching). Ash Wednesday (Next

Souper Bowl of Hunger Cancelled (but not your donations!)

So it seemed like a good idea... - First we scheduled our Souper Bowl of Hunger event in the parking lot on actual Super Bowl Sunday (makes sense!)  Then it snowed! - Then we postponed it to this Sunday Feb 14th, Valentine's Day, but still not a bad idea.  Except... There is possible snow in the forecast and even if there is no snow, it will be bitterly cold.  Needless to say, people will not be lining up in a damp windy parking lot to buy Girl Scout cookies, buy St. Andrew's Swag, and  look at a construction site.  (Just keeping it real) - So...feel free to bring your donations of non perishable food items  for Norristown Food Pantry and / or cash donations for Norristown Kitchen at any of the three times we will be doing Imposition of Ashes in the parking lot on Ash Wednesday (Feb. 17): 9:30 AM, 12:30 PM or 6;30 PM (more info about this to come)  or bring them to the church office anytime during regular office hours or leave non perishable food (not cash!)  in receptacles out
