From the Director of Christian Education

Jesus said, "Let the little children come unto me".  In the Gospel of John, it is said that all of us are the children of God. And so we invite everybody to come and attend not only the worship service, but our Sunday School classes as well. For this is the time that people can interact with each other in sharing their faith.

We at St. Andrew's Church are indeed blessed with a good Sunday School, and have people who are willing to take the leadership roles in the classrooms, as well as people who are willing to be the listeners and doers. We have a traditional Sunday School, in that each person goes to a classroom and is there for most of their classroom time. Children may be involved in music, led by the music director, or involved in a Bible lesson, which may include a game or craft, and at times, a snack is provided.

Some Sundays we forget all those rules and break out of the mold. We call these Sundays "special" Sundays. This is when we gather together as an entire group to explore a particular subject or theme.

The following is a list of "special" Sundays held throughout the year:

bullet

Love Sunday - the Sunday before Valentine's Day when we make cards for others to express God's  love;

bullet

Bear Creek Sunday - last Sunday in February - getting youth excited for camp;

bullet

Butterfly Sunday - two weeks prior to Easter - make the butterflies for the narthex;

bullet

Palm Sunday - the "2nd Pageant" depicting Jesus' life in Holy Week;

bullet

Earth Sunday - in April to remind us of our charge to take care of God's world;

bullet

Mission Sunday - in May used to show how people are spreading the Word;

bullet

Recognition Sunday - in June - used as a wind down to the Sunday School year;

bullet

Rally Day - in September - the big kick off to the start of Sunday School;

bullet

Reformation Sunday - last Sunday in October to remind us of our heritage;

bullet

Christmas Pageant - 4th Sunday in Advent - the presentation of Jesus' birth.

During the summer months, (June to August), we provide a children's worship time for children 3 years of age to those just finishing 3rd grade. This is held during our regular worship service.

Adult Bible Classes are offered not only on Sundays, but throughout the week.

St. Andrew's has a "SafePlace" policy in effect which ensures there are at least two adults present in each class, for children under the age of 18. One or more of the adults in these classes have undergone a background check.

All are invited to be a part of our Sunday School as we discuss God's Word.
