St. Andrew's Musical Productions

Our Worship and Music Committee has succeeded in bringing to St. Andrew's a multitude of musical opportunities.

The Three Trees, a musical tale of hope and dreams, written and directed by John Rea, was presented on April 21st, 22nd and 23rd of 2005. This was so well received that it has become a springtime annual event at St. Andrew's. The Three Trees is a giant puppet musical, based on the book Tale of Three Trees. The story follows a little girl named Sophie, who defiantly plants three trees atop her favorite hill. The beastly Saul, who has stolen the land from the town, threatens to gobble her up if he ever spies her again on his hill. His threats can't stop her trees from growing. They grow taller and faster than any tree has ever grown, and Sophie's spirit has given them spitfire personalities. The three trees wish for greatness, but when Saul comes and cuts them down, their dreams are crushed. The first tree is made into an animal feeding trough; the second is made into a simple fishing boat; the third tree is cut into a pile of lumber. After humbling themselves to their new lives, the three trees come to play a vital role in the life of Christ - one as a manger, one as a ship and one as the cross. In this heartwarming, family-friendly musical, the trees get much more than they ever expected.

John is currently in the midst of developing a new musical called The 4th King. This musical will involve a puppet ministry similar to that of The Three Trees. We are all looking forward to this production sometime in 2008.

Additional opportunities include participating in our Annual Musicale held every March. Participants may present their favorite religious or secular pieces during the first hour of the program.  The second hour is a group effort in which a concert version of a Broadway show is performed.  In 2007,  we have added a choreography element to the presentation.
